In a time of feeling like everything is out of control; war, economy,
strange weather, kids etc, this is THE BEST TIME to take control of your
health. I know I sound like a broken CD, but in reality there
really is so little we are in control of. I personally like to plan for
the future and ...

On Saturday the state of Hawaii was put on a tsunami alert following
the devastating 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile. In pure Laird form

I think I end up starting new challenges weekly. I have the one month
challenge, the no chocolate or bread challenge, the only drink water
challenge, and the list goes on and on. What I do like about setting a
clear cut goal is it does create a STARTING POINT which I think is
critica...

It seems that right as my head hits the pillow at night, I get this
urge to "talk" with my husband Laird (who takes about 15 seconds to
fall asleep) about family and the days events. Last night I was trying
to explain to him that as a Mom I often feel like a coordinator more
than a nurture...

Redefine yourself! See
who you want to be and who you already are inside and make that happen.
I'm not talking about opening up a magazine and looking at a shot of an
18 year old girl and saying "that's who I dream to be". Who are you?
What is the best YOU that you can be? ...

My husband Laird does stand up paddling surfing which is all well and
good for him. Me personally, I enjoy paddling in calm water and using
it as an additional training tool that helps me get OUTSIDE in nature...comments(6)

Whenever I hear people talk about the reasons they can't fit a workout into their day, I keep hearing "there's no time." I believe this is true to some degree (especially for working moms), but let me ask you a few questions. How much time do you spend: watching TV, using the computer at home?...

OK my fellow brothers and sisters, let's make a move. We all talk about
wanting to make a change, but we get lost in the wishy-washy way we
approach the area we desire to change. "I need to eat better." Or "I really should start making time to exercise." What does that mean?...

The one thing that really does help you lose weight or stay slim is how
efficiently your metabolism works. So what does resistance training
have to do with your metabolism? comments(4)

I've talked plenty about food and exercise in relation to your health
and weight. Since looking and being healthy is a pie made up of many
pieces, I thought I would use this opportunity to talk about a piece I
don't get to touch on often...comments(10)

1.4 percent -- that's how much of your week is spent working out if you
did 30 minutes a day training 5 days a week. Not 14 percent, only 1.4
percent. Wow, doesn't that put it in perspective? I thought if we
could all just give up one TV show that we liked a day we could fit
th...

My dear friend Sheryl Crow is in town and she came by with her family

I admit that most of the time I am a push it/force it kind of person.
When it comes to my work I find myself always Chinese water torturing
every aspect to death. There are in fact parts of this philosophy that
I agree with so long as it is connected to a solid vision and tons of
har...

watching TV, and browsing online to learn more about Britney, Brad, Lindsay,

This morning I woke up to a long mental holiday list, two whining kids, my time of the month, and I have family visiting! This calls for a nip of chocolate. Before I even brushed my teeth I hit that smooth sweet milk chocolate. They don't send you to rehab for that, and I...

This morning I got the great pleasure of hooking up with my husband
Laird for a nice little one hour bike ride. I thought we would do this
usual loop that is about 70% up hill and on pavement (even though I am
riding my new Giant mountain bike). We leave the house as usual and of
