Q: Are you still playing volleyball?
A: No, but I am hoping the league will bring back the 4X4 beach volleyball game. If they do so I would still love to compete .
Q: Are you still golfing? A:
Once my daughter was born (almost 4 years ago) I was unable to spend
the kind of time I needed to even have a chance at being good at golf.
I have only had time to compete the last 2 years in the Long Drive
World Championships. Golf is the hardest game I have ever experienced,
and there were many times that I realized I felt like I bit off more
than I was able to chew. I learned so much training in golf, met
wonderful people, and was deeply humbled by the game. My hat goes off
to those pros that get after it week after week.
Q: How tall are you? A: 6'3"
Q: Weight? A: 172 pounds.
Q: Do you work out? A:
No. I just talk about it an awful lot. Just kidding. I train anywhere
from 4-6 days a week.I spin, hike, lift (circuit training), stand up
paddle, climb up sand dunes, and occasionally street bike.
Q: Hardest thing for me in my training? A:
Flexibility. I wish I was more flexible. I really think it is so
important to balance between your strength, conditioning, and
flexibility.
Q: What sports do I like to play besides volleyball? A:
Golf (some days). I played basketball in high school, and was actually
better as a senior than volleyball because I had a wonderful coach who
taught me a ton.
Q: When did I reach 6'3"? A: Age 15. I went into college at 17 at 145 lb., and left the same height 17lb stronger.
Q: How old was I when I started playing volleyball? A:
15. I think that's why I played so long because I fell in love with the
game so late and still wanted to play even after college.
Q: Where did I go to college? A: Florida State University. Scalp em'.
Q: Do I train with my husband? A: Occasionally.
Q: Am I competitive with him? A: No. Even if I was...no chance.
Q: Do I really do all my own writing for magazines and this site? A:
ABSOLUTELY. I really enjoy it. I remember when my first article came
out in ELLE magazine around 1993 or 94, and my Mother asked me who
wrote it for me. You don't have to look good, sweat, and it gives me
motivation to continue exploring what's out there.
